Clesi Rose is a sweet little girl with a big heart. Literally, her heart is larger
than other babies her size. After Clesi was born, she did not gain weight well and had a paralyzed vocal cord.
The doctors call this "failure to thrive." We were unsure of the reasons behind it, so we visited many doctors and performed
many tests. Finally, after 5weeks, we checked her into Texas Children's Hospital for a feeding tube. They attended
to the usual routine and after 3 hours noticed her enlarged heart on a chest x-ray.
She was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease or more specifically coarctation of the aorta, 3 holes, and 2 mitral-valve
problems. The probability of any one child having this many congenital heart
defects are 1 in 100,000. The doctors prepared us for open heart surgery and
then at the last minute switched to only repair the coarctation; a true miracle as we were all very nervous to have our new
baby under a bypass machine. After a successful surgery we have been watching
Clesi grow to become a very active and happy baby. Her voice is back but she
will require at least one more surgery to correct her valve and repair one hole. We
thank God every day for the support of our family, friends and doctors who prayed and cared for us during this time.
